Yes.
I did it.
I chopped my hair. My overly long, overly annoying-to-do hair is gone. I said goodbye to 10 inches today and it felt good. I won't lie: looking at the before photo makes me a little bit sad. I worked hard to grow out my hair to get it there. But seriously I was so tired of it! It was time for a change.
Sure, long hair is gorgeous. I started growing out my hair over two years ago so I could curl it in the pretty waves you see all over pinterest.... you know, so I could do it like all those lovely style bloggers do. I let it grow just to copy these pretty looks and you know what: copying didn't pan out for me. Don't get me wrong, I love the long, luscious, beautiful wavy/curled look, but regularly curling my hair when it was long just never happened. I rarely had time to do my hair, and frankly I started to dread having to wash it because it was just too unmanageable for me. It took forever to dry and it always got tangled at the base of my neck. Yeah. The tangles were the straw that broke the camel's back.
So here I am, with hair that is 10 inches shorter than yesterday.
Jordan's unsure if he likes the change. I don't blame him. I'm on the fence too. Going from the really long to the really short is a HUGE change. It will take time to warm up to. I'm sure a lot of people would think that the before photo is much better than the after, but you know what: I don't care.
It's high time I start doing what I want to do with myself instead of trying to be everyone else. I find myself running in "copycat" mode more often than I want to admit. Now is as good a time as any to fix this little issue and just be myself.
