Always Learning

I am an amateur photographer.

I don't claim to be good at taking pictures. I just claim to love taking pictures, and I love learning about how to continually improve my skills at taking pictures. The camera I use is a Canon EOS 70D, and is the second DSLR camera I've owned. I got my feet wet with a Canon T1i back in 2009, used it for 5 years, and then sold it to upgrade to the 70D.  The two main lenses I use are the Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 and the Canon EF 18-135mm IS STM. I fiddle around with the Canon EF 10-18mm for fun (it's great for taking pictures of an entire room), but it doesn't get used everyday like the other two.

Recently I've been wanting to spend more time on this little hobby of mine, so I took to the computer to see what else this bad-boy camera of mine can do. I discovered the Canon EOS utility software and I am now kicking myself for not having downloaded this sooner. The software came with my camera and has the capability to allow me to remotely control the camera settings and image capture through my computer. The image taken above was taken using the software and lets just say I'm pretty excited about it.

I've been controlling my camera through my iPhone and iPad for months using the same concept, so it's funny that I didn't bother to figure out the computer aspect of this remote-control of my camera any sooner. To make up for lost time I plan to play with this utility and see through the lens in a whole new way.

I'm sure this has been said before: Technology is so cool.
