For the past few years I've followed suite in choosing a word to live by for the year. Choosing a word is an excellent concept and I really appreciate the difference it has made in my approach to each new year and the way that it helps me shape how I am living my life.
I normally let my word choose me, but for some reason my word hasn't come to me yet. I'm usually set with a new word by the end each year but 2014 has been a little different. In the interim (while I play the waiting game on my new word), my thoughts have centered on a common theme, so for now I'm just going to roll with it. This is the theme I'm talking about:
Be deliberate; Be intentional.
Be deliberate; Be intentional.
The idea to be "engaged in long and careful consideration" is important for me right now. I have a lot on my plate right now; more than I expected to have. So this year I want to take what I have, my responsibilities/obligations/roles, and make the best of it; be the best me I can be. Adopting this little mantra of "be deliberate, be intentional" is the key to fill my year with good things. It reaches into so many facets of my life and I really feel like this is what I need. I am looking forward to the journey and the lessons I will inevitably learn.
Here's to 2014. I have a feeling this is going to be a wondrous year.
